The Wit And Wisdom Of Rob Auld

Here are a few new comments receieved today from "Rob." He is an Emergent with some very pointed things to say.

Phil, You sound like a pig.
Rob

Phil, You are absolutely moronic in your analysis.

Phil, Don't threaten me. Censor away, I submit you've censored quite a bit in your life. How can I leave Emergent? What is there to leave? We don't have to define ourselves along your sad denominational lines. We look to include and focus on those issues. You look to exclude and divide. We'll see whose 'more right' in the end I suppose. In the meantime, how does a plumber qualify to teach in a Bible school?

Rob

Ah there. Can't you just feel the Emergent love?

In Christ,
Phil Perkins, non-plumber. PS--Wonder if he hates carpenters, too.

Phil,

Nice. I certainly feel your love too. Especially in your patheic threats. You do sound like a horrible human being, and completely devoid of compassion. But I think that's a product of this ridiculous blog. Have a wonderful existence hating everything and everyone who's different.

Interesting. I have had exchanges with Rob in the past, but he was never rude to me like this. Wonder what bee got in his bonnet?

Solameanie,
Well, I get this all the time. I actually like to get it because it really shows folks the real deal about these "tolerant" people. I try to watch myself so that I don't speak in a way that is more harsh than the Scripture, but I go right up to the line so that they can be exposed. They are not obedient to the Spirit at all. For the most part, many of the most motivated Emergents are angry at authority, whether it is their parents, their former pastors, the church in general, etc.

I provoke them for their own good, too. Perhaps a cold cup of water in their face will wake up a few. The two questions make them face the basic problem squarely. Their reaction to those two questions I use for evangelizing them is always anger first and foremost. This proves that they really are angry at God. He has trapped them in this world. They hate it because on every side they see the truth of God in creation, in the Bible, in His vessels--other Christians and the church--and they are mad that they cannot do and believe as they want. They want to pick their own beliefs and behaviors and still be approved as "Christian."

That is why I am so strident with them. 1. They desperately need to know the truth about the destiny of their souls and the church these days is slow to call anyone a false teacher or damned. 2. The church needs to know the truth, too.

Since we evangelize in such a postmodern world, I am going to start using these questions in my witnessing as well. Whether they will prove effective out there will be seen.

Sorry for not yet getting you up in my blog roll. Will do it this evening or sometime soon. Enjoy reading your stuff. You're pretty straightforward, too. You big Meanie--ha.

In Christ,
Phil Perkins.

Sola,

Phil acknowledges that he provokes it, and he did a number on me.

My passion wasn't checked like it should have been.

As for the baiting, I think it's disgusting and has always been way beneath you. But to each his own I suppose.

I do feel badly for my comments and offer an apology to Phil.

Phil,

I appreciate your olive branch. I do need to make something abundantly clear. I disagree with you on pretty much everything.

I'm a liberal and believe that this is what God wants of me. Fundamentalism I believe is a real problem. It leads to closed mindedness, the inability to dialogue without provoking and mnay other ills.

It tends to come from people who love structure and many times from a mentally unbalanced state.

Once again, I appreciate your olive branch, but we disagree and I'm not worried about meeting my saviour.

Rob,
There is really no olive branch here. I am not at war with you. I am pointed and demanding because you need to repent.

When you say you're a liberal, you're admitting you'll not obey God as He has revealed His will in Scripture. That is the difference between a liberal and a believer. You need to be honest with yourself and others. You started this by saying you believed the Bible has the right to tell you how to think. That isn't true as you have shown with your examples of instances where you think the Bible is bogus.

You do not know Jesus. The proof is that you refuse to repent and listen to His voice in Scripture.

In Christ,
Phil Perkins.

Phil,

I'll thank you not to pronounce judgement over my final destination and whether I know Jesus or not. Those statements elevate you into a position you definitely do not hold.

Frankly, your responses are typically Fundamentalist. You know more then anyone and you have the Absolute Truth because the Bible's on your side. Don't worry about context and nuance because you're right. All you need is the scripture.

I say good for you. If it's working for you keep going. No sense thinking unnecessarily.

Couldn't help but notice you put my name back on the title. That doesn't bother me, because you sign your name too. I think we both look rather silly in all of this, but I'm comforted to know you'll keep posting.
