The Wit And Wisdom Of Rob Auld

Phil, Don't threaten me. Censor away, I submit you've censored quite a bit in your life. How can I leave Emergent? What is there to leave? We don't have to define ourselves along your sad denominational lines. We look to include and focus on those issues. You look to exclude and divide. We'll see whose 'more right' in the end I suppose. In the meantime, how does a plumber qualify to teach in a Bible school?
Rob
Ah there. Can't you just feel the Emergent love?
In Christ,
Phil Perkins, non-plumber. PS--Wonder if he hates carpenters, too.

Interesting. I have had exchanges with Rob in the past, but he was never rude to me like this. Wonder what bee got in his bonnet?
Solameanie,
Well, I get this all the time. I actually like to get it because it really shows folks the real deal about these "tolerant" people. I try to watch myself so that I don't speak in a way that is more harsh than the Scripture, but I go right up to the line so that they can be exposed. They are not obedient to the Spirit at all. For the most part, many of the most motivated Emergents are angry at authority, whether it is their parents, their former pastors, the church in general, etc.
I provoke them for their own good, too. Perhaps a cold cup of water in their face will wake up a few. The two questions make them face the basic problem squarely. Their reaction to those two questions I use for evangelizing them is always anger first and foremost. This proves that they really are angry at God. He has trapped them in this world. They hate it because on every side they see the truth of God in creation, in the Bible, in His vessels--other Christians and the church--and they are mad that they cannot do and believe as they want. They want to pick their own beliefs and behaviors and still be approved as "Christian."
That is why I am so strident with them. 1. They desperately need to know the truth about the destiny of their souls and the church these days is slow to call anyone a false teacher or damned. 2. The church needs to know the truth, too.
Since we evangelize in such a postmodern world, I am going to start using these questions in my witnessing as well. Whether they will prove effective out there will be seen.
Sorry for not yet getting you up in my blog roll. Will do it this evening or sometime soon. Enjoy reading your stuff. You're pretty straightforward, too. You big Meanie--ha.
In Christ,
Phil Perkins.

Rob,
There is really no olive branch here. I am not at war with you. I am pointed and demanding because you need to repent.
When you say you're a liberal, you're admitting you'll not obey God as He has revealed His will in Scripture. That is the difference between a liberal and a believer. You need to be honest with yourself and others. You started this by saying you believed the Bible has the right to tell you how to think. That isn't true as you have shown with your examples of instances where you think the Bible is bogus.
You do not know Jesus. The proof is that you refuse to repent and listen to His voice in Scripture.
In Christ,
Phil Perkins.
